FCC Complaint Filed Over Jimmy Kimmel Monologue

The National Religious Broadcasters has filed a complaint with the FCC calling for it to investigate Jimmy Kimmel.
The complaint is in response to Kimmel calling Melania Trump “an expectant widow.”
Christian nonprofit filed a complaint Monday with the Federal Communications Commission, requesting it investigate Jimmy Kimmel’s remarks last week that called first lady Melania Trump “an expectant widow.”

The group argued that rhetoric that appears to “trivialize or foreshadow harm against political leaders” should take on heightened significance given the current political climate.
“We should be relieved that lives were spared Saturday evening; but relief can’t become complacency,” NRB President Troy Miller said in a statement. “We’re seeing a pattern of violence in this country that didn’t appear overnight.
Both Melania Trump and Donald Trump called for ABC to fire Kimmel.
Trump called the comments “far beyond the pale” and said, “Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC.”
Wow, Jimmy Kimmel, who is in no way funny as attested to by his terrible Television Ratings, made a statement on his Show that is really shocking. He showed a fake video of the First Lady, Melania, and our son, Barron, like they were actually sitting in his studio, listening to him speak, which they weren’t, and never would be. He then stated, “Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.” A day later a lunatic tried entering the ballroom of the White House Correspondents Dinner, loaded up with a shotgun, handgun, and many knives. He was there for a very obvious and sinister reason. I appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel’s despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said but, this is something far beyond the pale. Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel dared to repeat the “hateful” ill-timed joke he made about first lady Melania Trump looking like an “expectant widow” in a bombed roast he delivered days before the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Kimmel explained that his mock roast featured in last Thursday’s show was intended to mirror those that comedians usually conduct at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which were nixed for this year’s celebration.

He repeated the tasteless joke verbatim in his Monday night monologue following a failed assassination attempt on President Trump — and after Melania called Kimmel out for “hateful and violent rhetoric.”

But Kimmel on Monday swore that his performance was “a pretend roast” far removed from the purported assassination attempt.
