President Donald Trump is exposing the flaws in the U.S. election system, raising questions over why American election results can take significantly longer to come in than results in other countries.
In a post, Trump highlighted Brazil’s presidential election, saying 125 million people voted in the first round and that the results were released shortly after polls closed.
Trump then contrasted that with Detroit, Philadelphia, California and other U.S. cities and states, claiming that election results involving far fewer voters can take weeks to calculate.
Trump ended his post with a blunt accusation: “Voting in America is CORRUPT!!!”

Brazil’s presidential election headed to an Oct. 25 runoff after conservative Sen. Flavio Bolsonaro, a Trump ally, and leftist President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva failed to win a majority Sunday.
With 99.8% of the vote reported, Bolsonaro had received more than 56 million votes compared with 53.7 million for Lula, according to The Associated Press.
