Maria Bartiromo’s sudden departure from Fox News Media may have stemmed from an internal dispute over the network’s coverage of claims involving China and the 2020 election, according to a report by Puck News’ Dylan Byers.
According to Byers’ reporting, Bartiromo wanted to pursue a story related to allegations about China and the 2020 election.
Puck reports that a Fox Business executive sent producers a text instructing them that the proposed story could not go to air. According to the report, Bartiromo then took a screenshot of that internal guidance and sent it to senior White House officials.
Byers further reports that Fox News leadership learned about the disclosure after receiving a call from the White House. According to sources cited by Puck, Fox executives viewed Bartiromo’s decision to share the internal guidance as a fireable offense.
The report alleges that Fox subsequently pulled Bartiromo from the air following her August 9 broadcast. Fox announced on September 3 that Bartiromo was no longer with Fox News Media, but the network did not publicly provide a specific reason, describing her departure as a “business decision.”

President Donald Trump is coming to Maria Bartiromo’s defense following her departure from Fox News, calling the longtime anchor a “total professional” and a “true warrior.”
“I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business,” Trump wrote. “Three different shows, always number one.”
