President Donald Trump has accused Alaska Democrats of attempting to confuse voters by placing a candidate named Dan Sullivan on the ballot, alleging the move was intended to mislead voters familiar with Republican Senator Dan Sullivan.
In a statement, Trump called for Democratic candidate Mary Peltola and the other Dan Sullivan to face legal consequences, describing the alleged scheme as voter fraud. The allegations have not been independently verified.
It was just determined that the Dumocrats in Alaska, despite their sworn statements to the contrary, put a man named Dan Sullivan on the Ballot in order to confuse the Public with respect to Highly Esteemed Senator Dan Sullivan. This is Voter Fraud at the Highest Level, and the Dumocrat Candidate, who was involved in the scheme, Mary Peltola, should be removed from the Ballot and prosecuted — So should the FAKE Dan Sullivan. Nothing else will do! This behavior in our Elections cannot be allowed to continue. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP
An article from The New York Times exposed that Democrats in Alaska reportedly had a plan to get another candidate named Dan Sullivan to reportedly confuse voters.
The Republican candidate’s name is Dan Sullivan as well.
The article alleges that despite denials from Democrat Candidate Mary Peltola’s campaign, they were involved with the people trying to get Dan Sullivan to run.
Democrats in Alaska reportedly created a plan to find a second candidate, also called Dan Sullivan, as Sen. Daniel S. Sullivan (R-AK) and Alaska Democrat U.S. Senate candidate and former Rep. Mary Peltola (D-AK) face off against each other.
While Peltola’s campaign “has repeatedly denied any involvement” in Daniel J. Sullivan announcing his candidacy, a report from the New York Times revealed that “interviews and text messages, along with documents prepared for a potential lawsuit” showed that Peltola’s team was involved “with people trying to recruit Mr. Sullivan to run.”
According to the outlet, the effort to find a second Dan Sullivan candidate to go on the ballot was reportedly “internally called the ballot composition project” which “involved the Peltola’s campaign’s lawyers, as well as senior aides at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee”
…
Elisa Rios, who previously worked as a campaign manager for Peltola, told the outlet during a “series of interviews,” that people in Alaska “need to know.” Rios also clarified to the outlet that while Peltola “was not directly involved in the project,” she was “definitely aware” of it.
