Donald Trump scored another successful primary election night, with more than 16 candidates he endorsed winning their respective primary races.
The results added to Trump’s record of backing successful Republican candidates during the 2026 election cycle, reinforcing his influence within the party.
Commenting on the outcome, political commentator Benny Johnson wrote, “The Trump endorsement continues to be the most powerful weapon in politics.”

Among the biggest victories of the night were two key Republican wins in Michigan.
Rep. John James won the Republican primary for governor, securing his party’s nomination for the November general election.
James will face Democratic nominee and Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson in one of the state’s most closely watched gubernatorial races.

James, who represents the Detroit suburbs, prevailed in the primary despite being vastly outspent by his opponent, wealthy businessman Perry Johnson.
President Donald Trump, despite harboring early concerns that a bid for higher office would put the two-term congressman’s competitive House district at risk, endorsed James and last week traveled to the state to campaign for him.
James, 45, will face Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, the winner of Tuesday’s Democratic primary, this fall in one of the most fiercely contested battleground states. Term limits prevent Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, from seeking re-election.
The second victory was Mike Rogers winning the Senate primary.

Speaking with Breitbart News in May, Rogers said Democrats would do to Michigan what Mamdani has done to New York City if they win in November.
“They’ve all got huge problems here,” he said, adding that some candidates are “very interested in owning grocery stores and owning every bit of your health care.”
