Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone is the most recent in a string of Arizona officials to complain about the county’s audit of the 2020 presidential election.

The sheriff said that the State Senate’s demands for the audit of Maricopa County’s presidential election is “mind-numbingly reckless and irresponsible.”

He said the law enforcement agency would be at risk if the county complied with the Republican majority senate’s demands for routers or digital copies of the routers. The Senate also wants passwords to the voting machines that county officials have claimed they do not have, AZ Central reported.

“The Senate Republican Caucus’ audit of the Maricopa County votes from last November’s election has no stopping point. Now, its most recent demands jeopardize the entire mission of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office,” he said.
