President Donald Trump declined to say whether he would endorse Sen. John Thune for another term as Senate GOP leader.
Asked directly about a potential endorsement, Trump responded, “Well, I don’t want to get into that.”
Trump added that he has a good relationship with Thune, saying, “I get along with him.” He also remarked, “It’s unfortunate that he doesn’t have the votes.”

President Trump declined to back Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-N.D.) for a second term as Republican leader in the chamber, saying he did not want to discuss the matter, in an interview that aired on Friday.
“I don’t want to get into that necessarily,” Trump told Punchbowl News.
“I get along with him. It’s unfortunate that he doesn’t have the votes,” he said, referring to Thune insisting Senate Republicans do not have the votes to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE America) Act.

“I believe strongly in terminating the filibuster, and by the way, getting SAVE America Act approved immediately, and about 400 other things in every hour of every day,” the president said.
Trump wants to see the Senate vote on the SAVE Act.
This would show who supports or doesn’t support the bill.

The president also wants to see who would vote against the election-security measure known as the SAVE Act, which may be put to a vote on Friday.
“I want to see the people, both Republican and Democrat, who vote against because mostly it’s Democrats,” Trump told Punchbowl.
