Democrats are losing support from their own party.

The fiancé of former Senate hopeful Haley Stevens, Jason Turkish, revealed he is voting against Democrat Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.

Turkish said, “We have never seen a candidate for U.S. Senate act so recklessly toward the safety of Jews in the community as we have seen from Abdul.”

Stevens lost to Abdul El-Sayed in the primary race earlier this year.

Detroit News reported:

Days before the Nov. 3 election, the Democratic fiancé of former Senate hopeful Haley Stevens declared he intends to vote for Republican Mike Rogers for U.S. Senate, saying he’s become convinced over the last three months that Democrat Abdul El-Sayed is an antisemite.

Jason Turkish, a Jewish Democrat and disabilities and civil rights attorney from Huntington Woods, is engaged to be married to U.S. Rep. Stevens of Birmingham, whom El-Sayed narrowly defeated in the Aug. 4 Democratic primary.

“I’ve just seen an escalation in his rhetoric since the primary, and it makes folks unsafe. Every time he talks about genocide (in Gaza), Jews get death threats,” Turkish told The Detroit News about El-Sayed, a long-time critic of the Israeli government.

“We have never seen a candidate for U.S. Senate act so recklessly toward the safety of Jews in the community as we have seen from Abdul.”

Turkish is planning to attend an event hosted by the Republican Jewish Coalition.

The Hill reported:

In a statement to The Detroit News, the Democrat’s campaign spokesperson, Roxie Richner, said El-Sayed was “focused on building a broad coalition” in the state.

Turkish said he plans to attend a Rogers campaign event in Birmingham, Mich., on Wednesday evening hosted by the Republican Jewish Coalition. The event, titled “Who Will Keep Us Safe? Rogers vs. El-Sayed,” will feature the GOP nominee and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R).

Turkish’s announcement follows a recent declaration from Stevens’s former campaign chair to Jewish Insider on Tuesday that he would similarly not support El-Sayed in the November race.
