This is a blow to DeSantis who had Perlmutter’s support in 2018 and 2022.
Former Disney executive Ike Perlmutter has signaled his intention to financial back Donald Trump in the GOP presidential primary, making him one of the richest donors behind the former president this time around.
A spokesman for Perlmutter, whose net worth is estimated at $3.9 billion, told CNBC that the businessman plans a ‘meaningful’ contribution to Trump’s presidential campaign.
The billionaire has not yet decided how much to donate, and his spokesman was unable to immediately offer further details when reached by DailyMail.com on Thursday night.

It comes as another blow to the presidential campaign of Ron DeSantis, whom Perlmutter previously backed with $250,000 supporting his successful 2018 run and 2022 re-election as Florida governor.
Perlmutter previously said he told DeSantis that he agreed Disney should not be involved in politics.
Perlmutter, after he was ousted from Disney earlier this year, told The Wall Street Journal that he called DeSantis and agreed that the company should not be involved with politics. “Ron, you’re right. Disney doesn’t have the right to get involved with politics,” Perlmutter reportedly told DeSantis in a phone call. Disney and DeSantis have been at war since the entertainment giant last year criticized a Republican-supported bill that critics call “Don’t Say Gay.”
Perlmutter told the Journal that Disney fired him as chairman of Marvel Entertainment because he pushed the company too aggressively to cut costs and ran into issues with executives allied with newly returned CEO Bob Iger.
